James Foster Appointed CSK Fielding Coach Ahead of IPL 2026
The cricket carnival is set for the 19th edition of IPL (Indian Premier League). The marquee tournament is scheduled to begin on March 28, and before the start of the new season, Chennai Super Kings, who are five-time champions, announced the appointing of former England cricketer James Foster as the side’s new fielding coach.
It is worth noting that James Foster played for England in 23 matches. It is worth pointing that James Foster has scored 299 runs in 23 matches. However, Foster has a lot of experience when it comes to coaching apart from his playing career.
Ever since he called time on his playing career. Since calling time on his playing days, Foster has won the ILT20 as head coach at Desert Vipers in January and was recently named as assistant coach at Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred. He has also worked with the coaching staff of England and New Zealand.
It is worth mentioning here that before his tenure at Chennai Super Kings commences, James Foster had been a fielding coach for Kolkata Knight Riders, as well as an assistant coach for the franchise.
At Chennai Super Kings, Foster will be working closely with the side’s wicketkeepers. They were five-time champions and last won the IPL in 2023, and with some new players in the squad, they will hope for another good season.
Chennai Super Kings Kick off IPL Season Against Royal Rajasthan Royals.
Speaking of CSK, the side will begin IPL 2026 with a fixture against the first IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals. The two sides will face each other in Guwahati on March 30. And that clash with Royals is followed by another match against Punjab Kings, which is scheduled for April 3 for CSK.
For their third game, the side will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 5 and Delhi Capitals on April 11. Chennai will have to severely improve after a less-than-stellar season in 2025.
