Jammu and Kashmir: LG sacks 5 government employees working for Lashkar-Hizbul

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha dismissed five government employees from their jobs. Manoj Sinha dismissed teacher Mohammad Ashfaq, laboratory technician Tariq Ahmed Shah, assistant lineman Bashir Ahmed Mir, forest department field worker Farooq Ahmed Bhatt and health department driver Mohammad Yusuf.

During investigation, it was revealed that these five employees worked for terrorist organizations Lashkar and Hizbul Mujahideen. While holding government positions, they were taking salaries from public money, while secretly furthering the agenda of terrorist organizations. The LG administration has so far fired 85 government employees who were found working for terrorist organizations.

This action is part of a systematic campaign to clean up government systems to eliminate overground workers (OGWs), facilitators and sympathizers of terrorism who have managed to infiltrate government jobs over the past few years. Since assuming office, the LG administration has adopted a policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism and its facilitators. Since 2021, more than 85 government employees have been dismissed for terrorism-related activities.

According to security and intelligence agencies, the dismissed employees were actively associated with terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen. While holding government positions, they were allegedly facilitating terrorist activities, recruitment, logistics, fund transfer and communication between terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir and their handlers based in Pakistan. Officials said these people misused their access to government posts and sensitive places to support terrorist activities.
