How dangerous are IED explosions?

Terrorist organizations and Naxalites use IEDs to cause mass damage. It contains highly explosive and flammable substances, which cause fire immediately after explosion. IEDs are often hidden on roadsides or trails and can detonate as soon as a person or vehicle comes into contact with them. They can also be activated by devices such as remote controls or infrared tripwires. The subsequent explosion creates intense flames and thick smoke, further increasing the damage.
