Operation Trashi-1: Encounter with terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, 8 army soldiers injured

Jammu Kashmir Terrorist Attack: A fierce encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Sunday in the high hilly areas of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. ‘Operation Trashi-1’ In this operation being conducted under the IPC, Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists fired indiscriminately at the soldiers and threw grenades, in which eight Indian soldiers were injured.

There was a face-off between security forces and terrorists on Sunday afternoon in Sonar area located north-east of Chatru in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu-based White Knight Corps of the Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a joint anti-terrorist operation, called ‘Operation Trashi-1’ The name has been given. After receiving intelligence input, when the joint forces started a cordon and search operation, the hiding terrorists suddenly started firing. According to officials, there was a fierce exchange of fire between the two sides for hours, in which eight army personnel were injured.

Soldiers’ morale and air rescue

The eight soldiers injured during the encounter were immediately evacuated despite the challenging geographical conditions. The seriously injured soldiers were airlifted to the hospital with the help of army helicopters to ensure better treatment. The Army has appreciated the exceptional professionalism and tenacity displayed by the soldiers in difficult circumstances. It is reported that most of the injured soldiers sustained injuries caused by shrapnel caused by the bursting of grenades thrown by the terrorists.

Hand of Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammed

According to security officials, the search team encountered two to three foreign terrorists, believed to be associated with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed. These terrorists fired indiscriminately and threw grenades with the intention of breaking the cordon of the security forces and escaping. At present, the area has been completely sealed and additional Army, CRPF and police personnel have been deployed at the spot so that the terrorists cannot take advantage of the forest and escape.

Search intensified with drones and sniffer dogs

The army is now taking the help of modern technology to kill terrorists. Drones and advanced surveillance equipment are being used to find the exact location of terrorists hiding in dense forests and inaccessible hills. Along with this, sniffer dogs have also been included in the campaign. The Army is continuing this operation in close coordination with the civil administration and other security agencies.

Jammu division on high alert before Republic Day

This encounter took place at a time when security arrangements have been tightened in the entire Jammu division on Republic Day. According to intelligence reports, the masters of terrorists sitting in Pakistan are trying to infiltrate more terrorists to disturb the peace. This is the third major encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu region within the last 19 days.

Earlier on January 7 and 13, encounters had also taken place in the forests of Kathua district. At present, hill districts like Kishtwar, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi have been kept under strict surveillance, as about three dozen terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the dense forests here.
