Jammu & Kashmir: Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Zakir Ganai killed in encounter.

The operation was going on continuously for 4 days

Top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Zakir Ahmed Ganai was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation of security forces against terrorists is going on for 4 days. The body was recovered at the encounter site on Wednesday.

Zakir Ghani was included in the list of 14 terrorists, which was released by the intelligence agencies after the Pahalgam attack. After receiving intelligence information about the hiding of terrorists, a cordon and search operation was started in Chanapora area from Saturday evening. Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF are involved in this joint operation. The operation continued for the 5th day on Wednesday.

Army’s 44 RR, 20 RR, 34 RR, 55 RR, 3 Para, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 14 and 178 battalions of CRPF are involved in the operation. Additional soldiers of Victor Force have also been deployed in the operation, so that all escape routes of the terrorists can be closed. Security forces have been continuously conducting search operations in the villages and surrounding areas for the last several days.
