Jana Nayagan crosses Rs 100 crore worldwide

Chennai: Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan has continued its impressive box office performance, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in worldwide gross collections within just three days of release. The Tamil film recorded improved earnings on its first Saturday, recovering from the drop witnessed on its second day.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan collected around Rs 25.01 crore net in India on Day 3, taking its total domestic net collection to Rs 88.86 crore. The film’s worldwide gross collection has reached approximately Rs 112 crore, marking a strong start for one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the year.

The film’s performance has been boosted by strong audience interest, especially in Tamil-speaking regions, where Thalapathy Vijay enjoys a massive fan following. The weekend growth has provided fresh momentum after collections declined on Friday.

Strong Saturday growth after Friday dip

Jana Nayagan opened in theatres on Thursday with a massive Rs 42.70 crore net collection in India. However, the film witnessed a decline on Friday, earning around Rs 21.15 crore net.

The first Saturday brought a positive turnaround as collections improved to Rs 25.01 crore. The increase indicates that weekend audiences have responded well to the film, helping it maintain a strong pace during its opening weekend.

The film is currently being screened across 11,735 shows in India and recorded an overall occupancy rate of 35.3% on Saturday.

Trade analysts believe Sunday’s performance will be crucial in determining whether the film can achieve an even bigger opening weekend total.

Tamil version remains the biggest contributor

The Tamil version continues to dominate the film’s box office performance. On Day 3, it earned around Rs 22.23 crore net from 5,973 shows, recording an impressive occupancy rate of 55%.

The strong response in Tamil Nadu and other Tamil-speaking markets has been the major reason behind the film’s rapid growth. Vijay’s popularity, combined with the film’s farewell angle, has encouraged fans to turn up in large numbers.

The Hindi version collected approximately Rs 1.91 crore net from 4,482 shows, with occupancy standing at around 13%. The Telugu version contributed Rs 0.87 crore net from 1,280 shows, recording 21% occupancy.

While the non-Tamil versions have delivered moderate numbers, the Tamil market has provided the foundation for the film’s overall success.

Language-wise collection breakdown

After three days, Jana Nayagan’s Tamil version has contributed the majority of its earnings.

The Tamil language release has collected around Rs 78.38 crore net, making it the film’s strongest market. The Hindi version has earned approximately Rs 5.51 crore, while the Telugu version has added Rs 4.97 crore.

The gap between the Tamil collections and other language versions highlights Vijay’s regional dominance. However, the film’s ability to attract audiences outside Tamil Nadu will determine its long-term box office performance.

Vijay’s farewell film creates audience excitement

Jana Nayagan carries additional significance as it is being promoted as Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film before he focuses on his political career. This factor has increased curiosity among fans and contributed to the strong opening response.

The film has attracted attention due to its star-studded cast, including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Reba Monica John.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, the movie combines action, drama and political themes, making it one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year.

Weekend performance will decide next milestone

The improvement on Saturday has placed Jana Nayagan in a strong position heading into Sunday. A solid final day of the opening weekend could further increase its domestic and worldwide earnings.

Crossing Rs 100 crore worldwide within three days is already a significant achievement, especially in a competitive theatrical market. The film will now aim to maintain its momentum during the weekdays and establish itself as one of Vijay’s notable box office successes.

With strong fan support, impressive Tamil Nadu performance and growing weekend collections, Jana Nayagan has made a powerful start at the box office.
