January 2025 proved to be the most unfortunate at the box office, four films flopped miserably.

Every year many such films are released in Bollywood from which the industry has high expectations. Despite huge budgets, big stars and vigorous promotion, many films fail to attract audiences to theatres. The year 2025 was also no different. This year, many popular films failed miserably at the box office and could not even recover their costs.

‘Fateh’ did not survive at the box office

There were a lot of expectations from the film ‘Fateh’ directed by actor Sonu Sood, but the film could not survive at the box office. Made with a budget of around Rs 30 crore, this film was released on January 10, 2025, but the total earning was limited to only around Rs 17 crore.

Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Emergency’ also failed to impress the audience. This film with a budget of Rs 60 crore was released in theaters on January 17. The film could earn only Rs 17 crore at the domestic box office, while its worldwide collection was Rs 22.5 crore.

The film ‘Azad’, released on the same day, in which Ajay Devgan’s nephew Aman Devgan and Rasha Thadani debuted, was counted among the biggest flop films of the year. Made at a cost of around Rs 80 crore, the film failed to captivate the audience and earned less than Rs 10 crore.

‘Deva’ ineffective on screen

Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Deva’, released on January 31, was promoted on a large scale, but its effect was not visible at the ticket window. Made with a budget of Rs 55 crore, this film did a business of only about Rs 35 crore.

Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan’s film ‘Loveyapa’ also could not catch the attention of the audience. This film with a budget of Rs 50 crore was released in Hindi as well as Tamil, but the total earning was limited to Rs 10-12 crore.

Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh’s ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’, which released on February 21, also proved to be a flop. Against the budget of Rs 60 crore, the film could earn only Rs 11.8 crore.

Rajkummar Rao’s film ‘Maalik’, released in July, also became one of the weak films of his career. The film, which cost Rs 54 crore, earned only around Rs 28 crore worldwide.

‘Son of Sardar 2’ did not live up to expectations

Apart from this, Ajay Devgan’s ‘Son of Sardar 2’ also did not live up to the expectations. Despite a budget of Rs 130 crore, the film could earn less than Rs 45 crore. ‘Dhadak 2’, released along with this, could reach only Rs 25 crore in the budget of Rs 60 crore.
