Jarrod Bowen recommits future to West Ham United despite Premier League relegation

West Ham United has announced that captain Jarrod Bowen will remain with the club after its relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The Hammers suffered the drop at the end of last season after finishing 18th in the table, ending a 15 year stint in the English top-flight. Its relegation was confirmed following London rival Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Everton on the final day of the season.

Bowen, who has been at the club for six-and-a-half years, was one of West Ham’s better performers, scoring 11 goals across the season. He had been linked with a move away from the club, but confirmed that he has recommitted his future to West Ham.

In an interview on the West Ham United website, the club captain said that his immediate focus was on getting back to the Premier League.

“I did an interview after the [Leeds United] game and said my vision is to get this Club back in the Premier League. Sometimes you think it falls on deaf ears and people say ‘he’s just saying that’. There have been things written and different things said and you have to look at it and bite your tongue sometimes,” he said.

“But when I say something, I don’t hide away from it. For me, the main thing is to get this Club back into the Premier League and speak to people in the Club about what we want to do moving forward as a Club for the better of the Club. It was a no-brainer for me to be here and the vision is clear, it’s the Premier League.”

West Ham’s Championship campaign begins with a trip fellow relegated side Burnley on August 16.
