Famous Punjabi singer Jasmine Sandlas, who ruled people’s hearts with blockbuster songs like ‘Tenu Yaar Na Mile’ and ‘Shararat’, is in the headlines these days. Recently he has shared a very personal, emotional and shocking experience of his childhood with his fans.
Jasmine told that when she had to face periods for the first time in her life, she was so scared that she thought she was a victim of some serious disease. Due to lack of correct information, at that time she had a fear in her mind that she was suffering from blood cancer and now she would not be a guest for long.
Silence around periods at home and the school experience
In an interview given to ‘Hotterfly’, Jasmine Sandlas spoke openly about her scary experience. He brought forward the hesitation on this subject in the society and families.
Jasmine told that before entering the age of puberty, there was never any discussion in her house about periods or physical changes. Although, she was given basic information on this subject later during her school days, but when this happened to her in real life, she was not at all mentally prepared for it.
That dreadful day in 7th class and trying to hide it from mother
Recalling that period, Jasmine said that this incident happened when she was only studying in 7th class and her family lived in New Jersey (America). This sudden physical change had left him in deep shock.
Singer said, “I felt that I had some dangerous cancer and I was going to die. I was so scared and scared inside that I could not understand how to go to my mother and tell her about this or what to talk to her about.”
He said that even today many innocent girls in our society go through similar fear and mental stress because they are not given correct information about this natural process at the right age.

Awareness about periods and special appeal to parents
By sharing this bitter experience, Jasmine has given a big message to the society and parents. He said, “If seen, periods are a very natural and beautiful part of women’s life. But when you do not have any basic knowledge about it, then this beautiful thing becomes a very scary and painful experience for you.”
She made a special appeal to all the parents to talk openly to their daughters and children about menstruation (menstrual cycle) and the physical changes that occur during adolescence, without any shame or hesitation, so that in future no girl child has to be afraid while facing this situation for the first time.
