At the age of 34, Jason Holder said goodbye to ODI cricket, will continue playing in Test and T20
New Delhi. West Indies’ experienced all-rounder and former captain Jason Holder has decided to retire from ODI cricket. The team’s head coach Darren Sammy informed about his decision. However, Holder will still be available for West Indies in Test and T20 International cricket.

Darren Sammy told that Holder himself has expressed his desire to withdraw from ODI cricket. He said that Jason now wants to focus on franchise cricket as well, but his desire to play Test cricket is still intact. In such a situation, he will be seen playing an important role in the team’s test plans in future also.
Jason Holder made his ODI debut for West Indies in February 2013. After this, he took 159 wickets in 138 matches and also scored 2237 runs with the bat. He was also the captain of the team for a long time. Under his captaincy, West Indies played 86 ODI matches, winning 24 and losing 54. He played his last ODI in July 2023.
Currently, Holder is busy with Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 being played in America. He is captaining the LA Knight Riders. So far in the current season, he has scored 137 runs along with taking 10 wickets in 9 matches. After his retirement from ODI cricket, his focus will now be on better performance in Test, T20 International and franchise cricket.
