Jasprit Bumrah created new history in ICC Test rankings, became the first Indian fast bowler to do so

Jasprit Bumrah: Indian star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has made a big record in his name at the end of the year 2025. He has achieved a feat which no Indian fast bowler had been able to do before. Even though the year 2025 was nothing special for Bumrah, he has created a new history in the ICC rankings.

Jasprit Bumrah did wonders in ICC test rankings

In the latest ICC Test bowling rankings, Jasprit Bumrah has finished the year 2025 at number-1 position. With this, he has become the Indian fast bowler to remain number-1 in the Test bowling rankings for two consecutive years. Earlier also at the end of the year 2024, Bumrah was at number-1 in the ICC Test rankings.

Bumrah became the first Indian fast bowler to do so

Before Jasprit Bumrah, only R Ashwin had done this feat for India. Although Ashwin had achieved this feat as a spinner. Ashwin was the number-1 bowler in the ICC Test rankings for the years 2025 and 2026. Apart from this, Ashwin remained the number-1 bowler in the year 2023 also, but Bumrah has become the first Indian fast bowler who has held the number-1 position in the ICC Test bowling rankings for 2 consecutive years.

Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the year 2025

Jasprit Bumrah did not play many test matches in the year 2025. This year in 2025, he has taken a total of 31 wickets in his name while bowling in 14 innings of only 8 Test matches. He has taken wickets at an average of 22.16. During this period, he has achieved the feat of taking 5 wicket hauls thrice. Bumrah is an important part of Team India in all three formats, be it Test, ODI or T20. He has always proved himself. In such a situation, Bumrah being the number-1 bowler for two consecutive years shows his ability.
