Jasprit Bumrah Reaches Joint Highest Rating as Indian Test Bowler in ICC Rankings | Read

India’s star bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has achieved a remarkable feat in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings, currently holding 904 rating points.


This accomplishment matches the highest rating ever reached by an Indian player, a record set by spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Bumrah now has a chance to surpass this milestone in the upcoming Test in Melbourne, according to the ICC. Meanwhile, Travis Head’s exceptional performances have brought him closer to the top three in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings. In addition to these individual highlights, there have been several notable changes in the Men’s rankings due to recent matches across various formats.

Bumrah secured his position at the top of the Test Bowling Rankings after a stellar outing in Brisbane, where he earned 14 rating points with figures of 9/94. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood are ranked second and third, respectively. Travis Head’s impressive innings of 152 at the Gabba, coupled with a century in Adelaide, has propelled him to fourth place with 825 points. Steve Smith’s century in the third Test has also brought him back into the top ten. Additionally, KL Rahul’s strong performance in India’s first innings helped him rise ten spots to 40th place.

In the all-rounders category, Australia’s Pat Cummins re-entered the top 10 after taking four wickets and scoring 42 runs in the third Test against India. Travis Head’s all-around efforts also advanced him nine places to 29th. In the Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, Heinrich Klaasen’s steady half-centuries against Pakistan moved him up from 13th to fifth with 743 points. Saim Ayub’s two centuries in the same series resulted in a significant jump, moving him from 70th to a tie for 23rd place with 603 points. Ayub also climbed 113 spots to joint-42nd among all-rounders due to his bowling performances.

Azmatullah Omarzai excelled for Afghanistan in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, taking six wickets, which led to a rise of 43 places to 58th in the ODI Bowling Rankings. His all-round skills also elevated him by five spots to third among all-rounders. In the Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings, Mahedi Hasan and Roston Chase experienced notable advancements. Hasan climbed 13 places to 10th, while Chase moved up 11 spots to 13th, following impressive outings in the T20I series in the West Indies. Bangladesh finished their multi-format tour of the Caribbean on a high, with players like Rishad Hossain and Hasan Mahmud also making significant strides in the rankings.
