Jasprit Bumrah registers this sensational feat equals R Ashwin
The undisputed champion of the latest ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings is Jasprit Bumrah. His nine-wicket haul at 94 runs in the rain-affected third Test against Australia held at Brisbane earned him a whopping 14 rating points and pushed him to a career-high total of 904.
Vainglory accompanies Bumrah as an Indian Test bowler with his joint highest-ever evaluation with Ravichandran Ashwin, matching the record that Ashwin set in December 2016 with respect to evaluations in ICC history. With one test to go in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Melbourne, Bumrah stands a very good chance of overshadowing this bar.
Trailing Bumrah are Kagiso Rabada from South Africa and Josh Hazlewood from Australia, but the distance between their points makes the hold of Bumrah quite safe at least for now. Meanwhile, Travis Head of Australia continues the brilliance of his series, shooting up to fourth in the Test Batting Rankings after his scintillating 152-run knock at the Gabba.
Head’s countryman Steve Smith makes his century in the 3rd Test, putting him back in the money, while KL Rahul’s grit in India’s first innings moves him ten places higher into 40th
Earned his right back into the top 10 all-rounders as Australia skipper Pat Cummins, after taking four with the ball and scoring 42 runs in the third Test against India.
Klaasen pulled off three brilliant half-centuries in the home series against Pakistan in ODI format, pushing up to fifth from 13th in the Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, at 743 points. Two remarkable centuries by Ayub in the same series which Pakistan won 3-0 sparked a sensational climb from 70th up to joint-23rd, with an accumulating score of 603 points.
He also made a tremendous climb of 113 spots to join with America’s Steven Taylor among all-rounders in the ODI Rankings, thanks to his bowling contributions in the series.
Moving up by 43 places to 58 is Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai in the ODI Bowling Rankings after taking six wickets in the series against Zimbabwe. On the other hand, Omarzai also climbed five places to take the third position in the ODI All-Rounder Rankings.
That has been summed up by a 3-0 sweep in the T20I series against the West Indies, which has crowned and updated the successful visit of Bangladesh across formats. Mahedi Hasan now sits at 10th place among T20I Bowlers after climbing 13 spots into the top 10. Roston Chase of West Indies gained 11 spots to be 13th as well.
Other Bangladeshi players whose efforts have earned them accolades include Rishad Hossain, who jumped 21 places to 17th, and Hasan Mahmud, who moved up 23 places to 24th, further solidifying their hold in the country rankings.
