Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan remains under medical observation at Lilavati Hospital after being moved to the ICU on February 17. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is currently stable. He was rushed to the hospital’s emergency department around 8:30 am following health complications related to swelling. According to an official statement, he was brought in early that morning by the family physician, Dr. Sandeep Chopra. Family sources informed ABP News that although his health had stabilised, he was unable to speak at that time, prompting continued monitoring by the medical team.

Javed Akhtar Calls on Salim Khan

As soon as reports of his hospitalisation emerged, close family members, including Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan, hurried to the hospital to stand beside him. Shortly after, veteran screenwriter Javed Akhtar, who once delivered iconic Bollywood blockbusters with Salim Khan, also rushed there to visit and support his longtime friend.

A paparazzi video captures Javed Akhtar stepping out of his car and swiftly heading toward the hospital to visit Salim Khan. Surrounded by his security team, the veteran writer appeared composed. The footage shows the 81-year-old walking cautiously as he carefully climbs a small ramp near the entrance before quietly making his way inside.

In an official statement, the hospital confirmed that Salim Khan has been admitted to the ICU for close monitoring. It stated that emergency treatment began immediately upon his arrival, after which he was carefully shifted to the intensive care unit located on the first floor.

It added, “Emergency care was initiated, and Mr Salim Khan was shifted to the intensive care unit on the first floor. A team of doctors consisting of Dr Vinay Chavan (neurologist), Dr Ajit Menon (cardiologist), Dr Nitin Dange (neurosurgeon) and Dr Bineet Ahluwalia attended to him. Respecting the relatives’ request, further details are not being shared today. However, tomorrow at 11 am we shall be addressing a press bulletin with the due consent of the relatives and maintaining the confidentiality of the patient to the utmost. Kindly bear with us. He is stable but is under close observation with regard to his clinical status.”
