‘Our PM Modi is better than your God’ Javed Akhtar’s statement goes viral, questions on Allah in debate with Mufti

Javed Akhtar Remark on PM Modi vs God comment: Does God really exist? There was a debate on this deep question in the Constitution Club of Delhi which surprised everyone. Famous lyricist and self-proclaimed atheist Javed Akhtar and Islamic scholar Mufti Shamail Nadvi were face to face. During this time, Javed Akhtar gave a statement which is now in the headlines. Referring to the devastation in Gaza, he directly said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is better than your God who at least takes care of us.

This debate, which lasted for about two hours, touched many aspects of faith, logic and humanity. In the packed auditorium, Javed Akhtar explained the difference between trust and faith. He said that belief demands evidence and logic, but faith is accepting everything without any proof. He raised a sharp question that why is there pressure to believe something without evidence, without witnesses and without logic? This thinking prevents a person from asking questions.

Children’s rags and God’s silence in Gaza

To strengthen his arguments, Javed Akhtar presented the painful example of Gaza war. He said that if God is present everywhere and is merciful, then how can he ignore the devastation happening there? He asked whether God did not see the children’s rags flying there? Akhtar sarcastically said that even if he is omnipotent and allows all this to happen, it would be better if he did not exist. In this context, he said that our Prime Minister Modi is better than God, who does care about something.

Science vs Religion: Mufti’s counterattack

Responding to Javed Akhtar’s arguments, Mufti Shamail Nadvi said that evil has not been created by God, but by man’s own will. Violence and crime are the result of man’s wrong choices. He argued that science can only explain how the universe works, but cannot explain why it is. On morality, Javed Akhtar said that this is not a system made by nature but by humans, just like there are traffic rules which are necessary for the society but do not exist in nature.
