Jay-Z breaks silence on dismissed assault lawsuit alongside Diddy

Jay-Z has opened up about the emotional toll of a now-dismissed lawsuit, admitting he felt “angry” and “heartbroken” during the legal battle.

The rapper was accused of assaulting a minor in 2024 after an awards show more than two decades ago.

At the time, he denied the allegations calling them “idiotic”.

In an interview with GQthe rapper, born Shawn Carter, reflected on the case, which also named Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, calling it a “really hard” period.

“That whole (lawsuit thing), that s*** took a lot out of me” he said.

He added “I was angry. I haven’t been that angry in a long time, uncontrollable anger. You don’t put that on someone – that’s a thing that you better be super sure.”

The plaintiff claimed she met the duo after the MTV Music Video Awards at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan in 2000.

The lawsuit wa dismissed months later in 2025.

Jay-Z is doing a two-show comeback to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt at the Yankee Stadium.
