Welcome 2026, sadness in Jaya Bachchan’s family
The new year 2026 has started, but for veteran Bollywood actress and MP Jaya Bachchan, this time has brought not happy but sad memories. While everyone welcomed the New Year with much fanfare, Jaya lost a dear member of her family.
Jaya Bachchan’s pain
Jaya Bachchan, who was in the news in recent times for her controversial statements, is now facing a personal tragedy. His brother, famous actor Asrani, has left this world. The news of his demise came on New Year’s Day, and after that, these occasions were no longer special for Jaya.
Asrani passes away
84-year-old Asrani spent his last moments on the evening of Diwali 2025. On Diwali, he shared a social media post congratulating everyone, but a few hours later he breathed his last. January 1, if he had been alive, would have been his 85th birthday.
Shocking circumstances of the funeral
The news of Asrani’s death came to light after his last rites had been performed. Jaya Bachchan and her husband Amitabh Bachchan could not be present during the event. Asrani had requested only 20 people to bid him farewell, due to which Jaya did not get a chance to see her brother for the last time.
Jaya and Asrani’s special relationship
The relationship between Jaya Bachchan and Asrani may shock the crowd, but the bond between the two runs deep. Asrani had performed the duty of a brother in Jaya’s marriage and he has also been Jaya’s guru. Asrani taught at FTII, where Jaya was his student. Jaya always addressed him as ‘Sir’.
Asrani’s last wishes
Asrani had always expressed his desire for a quiet and dignified farewell. Along with his wife Manju, he had said that there should not be any noise after his death. That is why his funeral was performed in a very simple manner, so that his wishes could be respected.
