JDU gets symbol for assembly elections in Jharkhand, Saryu Rai will contest from Jamshedpur West on Gas Cylinder election symbol.

Ranchi: Nitish Kumar's party Janata Dal United has got the symbol for Jharkhand assembly elections. JDU has been given the election symbol of gas cylinder by the Election Commission for the 2024 assembly elections. This election symbol was earlier of Saryu Rai's party Bharatiya Jantantrik Morcha. After the merger of Bharatiya Jantantrik Morcha with JDU, the Commission has allotted the gas cylinder symbol to JDU for Jharkhand elections.

When Saryu Rai was an independent candidate from Jamshedpur East against the then Chief Minister Raghuvar Das in 2019, he was given a gas cylinder as his election symbol. This time, as JDU candidate, Saryu Rai can contest against Minister Banna Gupta from his old seat Jamshedpur West. According to the information received, BJP has given the seats of Jamshedpur West and Tamar in Jharkhand to JDU. Saryu Rai from Jamshedpur West and former minister Raja Peter from Tamar, who have once again joined JDU a few days ago, can be made candidates.

Election Commission of India Under Secretary Jasmeer Kaur has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand on October 16 regarding allotting the gas cylinder election symbol to JDU. In view of JDU's demand to allot gas cylinder election symbol, the symbol of gas cylinder has been given to them. Apart from Bihar, JDU is a recognized party in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur whose election symbol is arrow. JMM's election symbol in Jharkhand is bow and arrow, hence it has been allotted a different gas cylinder election symbol from it.
