Jeep fell into ditch in Nerwa, Shimla, two dead – ..

Shimla, 17 October (HIST). Another road accident has occurred in Chaupal sub-division of Shimla district. Late last night, a Scorpio jeep went out of control and fell into a deep ditch in the Nerwa police station area here. Two people traveling in the jeep died in the accident and two others were seriously injured. This accident happened at a place called Piplah on Shamtha Tikri road, about 15 kilometers from Neruva.

Four people were traveling in the Scorpio HP 08C-0346 found by the police. There was one local person and three people of Bihari origin. Two persons died on the spot. Two are seriously injured. The deceased have been identified as 38-year-old Pratap Hansta, son of Rati Ram village, Basra Post Office, Tikri Tehsil Neruva and Tuna Ram (41), of Bihari origin. The two injured persons are of Bihari origin and are undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital Neruva. All of them were going towards their residence last night when the jeep rolled into a deep ditch when the driver lost control. After receiving the information, the local police reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations and pulled out the casualties and injured from the ditch.

Chaupal DSP Sushant Sharma said that both the bodies will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem. The injured are undergoing treatment and their condition is critical. A case has been registered regarding this accident and the reasons are being investigated.

Let us tell you that a road accident has occurred in Chaupal sub-division for the second consecutive night. Earlier on Tuesday night, all three youths traveling in a car were killed when they met with an accident in the drain near Chaupal. All three deceased were residents of Jubbal in Shimla district. Every year around a thousand people die in road accidents on the winding roads of Himachal Pradesh. Most road accidents occur due to human error.
