The administration has started a special cleaning campaign with the aim of making the Dardha river passing through the district clean and pollution free. On the instructions of District Officer cum Chairman, District Ganga Committee, regular cleaning of river banks will now be done every Saturday. This campaign will continue till further orders.
After the decision taken in the meeting of District Ganga Committee, the Executive Officer of the Municipal Council has been instructed to implement this campaign effectively. Under this, a cleanliness campaign will be conducted in all those areas including Sangam Ghat near Jafarganj bridge located in Ward No. 18, through which Dardha river passes.
In compliance with the instructions, cleaning inspector Roshan Kumar has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring cleaning work every Saturday. The Municipal Council team has started the campaign and now the river banks are being cleaned regularly. In this sequence, a special cleanliness campaign was conducted in Ward No. 18 on Saturday, in which District Project Officer Amit Kumar was also present.
During the campaign, officials removed the garbage accumulated on the river banks and cleaned the surrounding area. During this time it was also observed that some shopkeepers, especially those selling coconut water, were throwing garbage on the river bank. The administration took a strict stand on this, warned them and instructed them not to do so in future.
Along with cleanliness campaign, special emphasis is also being laid on awareness. People are being motivated not to throw garbage in the river by the team of local youth and scout-guides. People are being made to understand that the cleanliness of the river is not just the responsibility of the administration but the duty of every citizen.
The Municipal Council has appealed to the general public to actively participate in this campaign and cooperate in keeping the Dardha River clean. The administration believes that it is not possible to make such a campaign successful without public participation.
This initiative is not only an important step towards environmental protection but also an effort to ensure clean and safe water sources for future generations.
