Jerry Bruckheimer, Emma Thomas join council devoted to cinema’s future

Jerry Bruckheimer and Emma Thomas are now part of Filmmaker Leadership Council, which promises “meaningful support” to theatrical business. Bruckheimer will lead the council as its chairman, with Thomas serving as its vice chairperson. Filmmakers such as Ryan Coogler, Brad Bird, Celine Song, and Jason Reitman are also part of the council.

Cinema United and the council will collaborate to offer “vital feedback and recommendations on the most pressing issues facing theatrical business nowadays,” such as those concerning theatrical windows, promotion, consolidation, innovation, technology, and marketing.

Greg Foster of Cinema United, who is deemed to have played an instrumental part in the formation of the council, is set to serve as its executive director.

Speaking about Filmmaker Leadership Council, Jerry Bruckheimer said, “Movies that captivate audiences and take their breath away — that’s why so many of us got into this business in the first place. There is nothing like that feeling of sitting in a dark theatre, the sound washing over you, watching something unfold on a massive screen that you simply cannot replicate anywhere else.”
