Jerry O’Connell reveals Rebecca Romijn’s secret obsession with ‘Stand By Me’ in exclusive interview

During a recent exclusive interview with People magazine, Jerry O’Connell spoke about his wife being a fan of Stand By Me. Although he was unaware of this until they were dating for several months, O’Connell later ended up with a great story to share regarding how he learned that Rebecca Romijn (his wife) had an entire bedroom full of posters of the movie.

O’Connell and Romijn met at a large party in 2004, shortly after Romijn divorced her first husband and was being photographed everywhere. O’Connell recalls that “she’s an 11,” meaning she’s perfect and famous, or millions of dollars, when he initially met her. After a very short period of dating, they became official, and both were under constant watch by the paparazzi.

Five months after they began dating, Romijn invited O’Connell over to meet her family. They had coffee, and during their conversation, her younger sister revealed to O’Connell that “you know Stand By Me is Rebecca’s favorite movie?” Romijn never said anything to her sister about her love for the film while they were dating for nearly half a year. Her sister continued to tell O’Connell that Romijn had posters of the movie on the walls of her bedroom and had seen the movie at least 100 times at the theatre.

O’Connell said that at the time he was with Rebecca Romijn, he couldn’t believe he was really with her; she felt just as surprised that she could be romantically involved with him. He gave much credit to the film Stand by Me for helping to make a family. His two daughters, Dolly and Charlie, who were born in 2008, are a product of the movie as well as his marriage to his wife in 2007.

This was shared as part of the continued 40th-anniversary celebration for the film titled Stand By Me, directed by Rob Reiner, where O’Connell, Wil Wheaton, and Corey Feldman came together to discuss why their lives have been changed by the film.
