Jhansi Medical College Fire: CM Yogi announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Jhansi Medical College Fire : The government has announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the newborn victims of the Jhansi Medical College Accident. The families of the injured will get assistance of Rs 50,000 each. CM said that this assistance amount should be received as soon as possible.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the accident that took place in the NICU (SNCU) of Jhansi Medical College. As soon as information about the incident was received late on Friday night, the Chief Minister sent Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak and Principal Secretary Health to the spot overnight. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, an assistance of Rs 05 lakh each is being provided to the parents of the newborn children born prematurely in the incident and Rs 50 thousand each to the families of the injured from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The Chief Minister has instructed the Divisional Commissioner and DIG of Jhansi to submit a report regarding the incident within 12 hours.

Ten children had died

Ten newborns died of burns and suffocation in a massive fire that broke out in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College. Divisional Commissioner Bimal Kumar Dubey said that 55 newborns were admitted in the ward where the fire broke out. 45 newborns were rescued safely. He is undergoing treatment. As soon as information about the accident was received, about 15 fire engines reached the spot. The army was also called. Army and fire brigade together extinguished the fire. The children are being given the best medical treatment, they will recover soon. This morning Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak has reached the Medical College.

Senior Superintendent of Police Jhansi Sudha Singh (SSP Jhansi Sudha Singh) said that 16 other children injured in this incident are undergoing treatment. At the time of the incident, more than 50 children were admitted in NICU. Jhansi Police, in a brief statement on social media, said a fire brigade was sent to the spot while senior district officials also reached the medical college.

A couple living in nearby Mahoba district is shocked by the death of their newborn child. The mother told journalists that the child was born at 8 am on November 13. The grief-stricken mother said that her child had lost his life in the fire. Visuals purportedly from the medical college showed panicked patients and their attendants rushing out while several policemen assisted in rescue and relief measures. According to a statement issued from Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and directed the district administration officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
