Police investigation has revealed that this attack was related to a land dispute. Ravindra Katewa is a dominant name in Shekhawati region and many serious cases are registered against him in Sikar-Jhunjhunu.
Ravindra Katewa has been accused of forcibly occupying lands, fighting over disputes and carrying out deadly attacks. It is also discussed at the local level that due to some political patronage, his stature continued to grow.
Ravindra Katewa’s criminal journey
Before becoming a land mafia, Ravindra Katewa was a big name in online fraud. He has been the mastermind of credit card fraud. In May 2022, Anantpura police station of Kota arrested him. At that time, the team of probation IPS and then CI Manish Chaudhary had exposed this entire online fraud racket.
On April 18, 2022, the credit card of Kota businessman Pawan Gupta was defrauded of about Rs 2 lakh 18 thousand thrice. When the merchant contacted the credit card customer care, he fell into the trap of Ravindra’s gang.
Used to cheat through app
Police investigation revealed that Ravindra and his gang had created a fake app. As soon as a person contacted that app or number to make a credit card related complaint, the gang would talk to him and get the same app downloaded on his mobile.
As soon as the app is downloaded, the mobile is taken on remote access and then money is withdrawn from the credit card. Ravindra used to get this amount transferred to the bank accounts of himself, his friends and relatives. Later the cash would be withdrawn through means like petrol pump and phone-pay. Those whose accounts were used were given commission.
Police interrogation revealed that around 100 people were defrauded of more than Rs 1.5 crore in this manner. With this black money, Ravindra invested in lands at many places.
Formation of RK Group 0056 Gang
After coming out on bail in the online fraud case, Ravindra Kateva formed his own gang in the year 2023, which was named RK Group 0056. He is a resident of Khirod village of Jhunjhunu district. His father is a lineman in the electricity department and one brother is an officer in the Income Tax Department.
Ravindra lured many youths into his gang by luring them with money. At present there are said to be around 100 to 150 boys in his gang. This gang carries out incidents like forcible occupation of lands, assault over land disputes and deadly attacks.
Used to show dominance on social media also
Ravindra Kateva was also very active on social media. There are many accounts in his name, on which he used to upload his own videos, photos with gang associates and videos related to incidents. Due to this his fear and influence increased in the area.
Gang war related to land dispute between brother-in-law and sister-in-law
The reason for the latest gang war is said to be a dispute over 24 bighas of land located in Bhadwasi area of Sikar. This land had become a cause of dispute between Shravan Phagedia and his sister-in-law Sharda. Ravindra Katewa supported sister-in-law Sharda in this dispute.
In the same case, Ravindra is accused of fatally attacking Shravan’s partner Suresh. Later, there was a compromise between both the parties, but despite this the land was not transferred to Shravan’s name. Due to this rivalry, Shravan allegedly gave betel nut and sent the miscreants to kill Ravindra, which led to this gang war.
