Zarina Wahab drops SHOCKING details on Jiah Khan’s suicide: ‘When it was my son’s…’

New Delhi: Veteran actor Zarina Wahab has opened up about her son Sooraj Pancholi’s involvement in the decade-long legal battle over Jiah Khan’s death. In a candid interview with Lehren, the My Name Is Khan actress claimed that Jiah had attempted suicide multiple times even before meeting Sooraj.

Zarina addressed the controversy, saying, “Before my son’s turn came, she had already tried to take her life 4-5 times. But it was destiny that when it was my son’s turn, it happened.” Jiah, best remembered for her role in Ghajini alongside Aamir Khan, was found dead at her Mumbai home on June 3, 2013. The tragic case made headlines when a six-page note allegedly written by the late actress surfaced, detailing her troubled relationship with Sooraj Pancholi.

Sooraj Pancholi and Jiah Khan

Sooraj, 34, was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide shortly after Jiah’s death. The case accused him of subjecting the Nishabdh actress to mental and physical abuse, as detailed in the note. However, in 2023, Sooraj was acquitted after a protracted legal battle spanning ten years due to lack of evidence.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Zarina shared how the accusations impacted Sooraj’s career and their family. “We all went through a bad time,” she said. “I believe in karma: if you ruin someone’s life with lies, it will come back to you with interest. It took ten years, but Sooraj has been proven innocent, and I am happy for him.”

Zarina revealed how the case derailed Sooraj’s budding career. “This case has affected Sooraj’s professional life deeply. Everyone knows what Jiah used to do, but I don’t want to say anything more and lower myself to that level,” she remarked, avoiding further controversy.
