Jio, BSNL, Airtel and Vodafone subscribers enjoy, SIM will remain active for 90 days without recharge…
Mumbai:- The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has announced new guidelines related to the validity of SIM cards. The new rules extend the validity of SIM cards, providing relief to users who often forget to recharge their second SIM. The rules are aimed at reducing the need for frequent recharging. Unlike earlier, the period for keeping the SIM card active without recharging has been extended.

Similarly, if you are an Airtel user, you will also be able to enjoy SIM validity of more than 90 days without recharging. This will be followed by a grace period of 15 days in which you will have to reactivate your number to avoid losing it. If recharge is not done within this time limit, the number will be deactivated and reassigned.

If you are a Jio SIM card user, your SIM will now remain active for 90 days without recharge. However, during this period, incoming call services will vary depending on the previous recharge plan. After not recharging for 90 days, you will have to choose a reactivation plan. Otherwise, the SIM will be permanently disconnected and reassigned to another user.

Vi users also have a 90-day grace period not to recharge. After this, a minimum recharge of Rs 49 is required to keep the SIM active.
BSNL longest validity
Of all these, BSNL offers the longest validity. Its validity period for inactive SIM is 180 days. This makes BSNL an attractive option for users who want to avoid frequent recharges.
If a SIM remains inactive for more than 90 days but has a prepaid balance of Rs 20-30, the balance will be deducted to extend the activation by 30 days. Without sufficient balance, the SIM will be deactivated and made available to new users.
