Jio Outpaces China Mobile as World’s Top Data Network – Fueled by Unmatched 5G Demand and Rising Data Consumption

New Delhi, October 30, 2024: In a testament to India’s digital prowess, Reliance Jio has emerged as the world’s largest data network, outstripping even China Mobile in global data consumption. According to data from the first three quarters of 2024, Jio maintains a solid lead in data traffic, positioning itself ahead of China’s telecom giant. Industry research firm Tefficient’s analysis reveals that Jio’s unstoppable growth has secured its top spot, while Airtel also claims a strong position, placing fourth globally.

In a recent tweet, Tefficient remarked on the staggering data growth witnessed by Indian telecom giants, with Jio’s data traffic soaring by 24% year-on-year, while China Mobile saw only a 2% increase. China Telecom trails in third place, followed by India’s Airtel, which recorded an impressive 23% growth. Vodafone Idea has also made its mark, capturing the sixth position globally.

Strong 5G Adoption Powers Jio’s Dominance

Tefficient credits India’s strong 5G infrastructure for the surge in data traffic, a factor that has seen much greater influence in India than in China. Jio’s seamless 5G connectivity and rapidly expanding home broadband services have contributed significantly to its data traffic, nearly doubling over the past three years. With over 148 million users now on Jio’s 5G network, the telecom behemoth has reported record-breaking data usage.

Reliance Jio’s latest report reveals that in the second quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, its data traffic exceeded 45 exabytes. This unprecedented milestone underscores not only Jio’s technological superiority but also the insatiable demand for data-driven services across India.

Jio’s Unmatched Data Reach

As Jio consolidates its position as the world’s most extensive data network, the figures tell a story of transformation and relentless progress. In India’s ever-evolving digital landscape, Reliance Jio’s unwavering commitment to accessible, high-speed data has not only changed the way India connects but also established the country as a leader in global data consumption. With its top-ranking position, Jio has set a new benchmark, reaffirming its leadership in the telecom world and strengthening India’s standing on the global digital stage.
