Union Minister and National Patron of Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) Jitan Ram Manjhi has given a big statement on the controversy of pulling the hijab of a female doctor appointed in the AYUSH department. Manjhi supported Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said that this entire matter is being blown out of proportion unnecessarily. While talking to the media during a program in Gaya, he condemned the attempts to give it a political form.
What did the boatman say?
Manjhi said that if this action had been taken by a young 22-year-old person, it would have been understandable, but it is wrong to look at 74-year-old experienced leader Nitish Kumar from this perspective. He said that Nitish Kumar is at that stage of age and experience where his every step should be understood from a parental point of view. According to him, this issue is not of political or communal colour.
He also said that when female doctors appear before patients, their professional image is important. In such a situation, it was not wrong to interrupt him on the stage. Manjhi alleged that some people are deliberately doing politics by making this incident a communal issue. He told that the female doctor herself has clarified that the Chief Minister’s intentions were not wrong and she has decided to join. Manjhi appealed that the doctor should stay away from politics and start his service fearlessly.
When did the controversy start?
This controversy started when during the appointment letter distribution program organized in Patna, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tried to pull the hijab from the face of Muslim woman doctor Nusrat Parveen while taking her certificate. During this time, the leader present on the stage and Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary tried to stop him, but by then the incident had already happened.
This case created a stir in the politics of Bihar as well as across the country. Opposition parties criticized the Chief Minister, demanded apology and resignation. Some leaders supported Nitish. Some described him as a father, while others said he did the right thing.
