JKSSB Constable Recruitment 2026: 600+ posts, application starts
Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board has started the recruitment process for more than 600 posts of constable in the police department. The minimum age has been fixed at 18 years and the selection will be done on the basis of written examination, PST, PET and document verification.
JKSSB Constable Recruitment 2026: For the youth looking for government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir, JKSSB has issued bumper recruitment notification for constable posts in the police department. This recruitment is being done to fill more than 600 vacant posts under Jammu and Kashmir Police, the application process for which has already started and the last date has been fixed as March 2, 2026. Candidates will be selected through written examination, physical test and document verification, so that eligible and fit candidates can get a chance.
What is the age and who can apply?
The minimum age limit for constable posts has been kept at 18 years. The maximum age limit has been fixed according to different categories, in which relaxation has been given for some posts up to 28 years, for some up to 30 years and for reserved category candidates up to a maximum of 40 years. SC, ST and other reserved categories will also get additional age relaxation under government rules.
Candidates are advised to check the age and eligibility conditions as per their category in the official notification before applying, so that no technical problem arises later.
Application Fee and Exam Pattern
For this recruitment, general category candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs 700, whereas for SC, ST and EWS categories this fee has been fixed at Rs 600. Fees can be paid only through online mode. Applications submitted without fee will not be considered valid.
The selection process will start with a written examination, in which multiple choice questions will be asked. The examination will be in English language and negative marking of one-fourth mark will also be applicable for wrong answers. Therefore, candidates will need to answer thoughtfully.
Selection process and necessary steps
Candidates who are successful in the written examination will be called for Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). In this, the physical abilities of the candidates like height, weight, chest and running will be tested. It will be mandatory to pass both these stages.
Document verification will be done in the final stage, in which educational certificate, age certificate and all identity related documents will be checked. The selection of the candidate will be considered final only if all the documents are found correct.
