Joel Davies All-Round Performance Storms Sixers Into BBL 15 Finals

An all-rounder performance from Joel Davies has secured him a player of the match award and a 57-run win for the Sydney Sixers on Friday’s clash.

By this win, Sydney Sixers enter the BBL 2025-26 finals to meet Perth Scorchers in the summit clash.

After being invited to bat first, Sydney Sixers’ Daniel Hughes and Steven Smith opened the innings while Nikhil Chaudhary opened the bowling attack.

Billy Stanlake brought the first dismissal, sending out Daniel Hughes for 15 runs. Josh Phillippe came to bat and scored 15 runs before Stanlake picked his second wicket.

In the meantime, Steve Smith smashed fifty and went on to score 65 runs. Rishad Hossain picked up two wickets – Steven Smith and Moises Henriques for 65 and 19 runs.

Joel Davie and Lachlan Shaw added some crucial 27 and 21 runs respectively, while Jack Edwards added 15 runs before all three got dismissed by Riley Meredith.

With Ben Manenti and Sean Abbott unbeaten at the crease, the Sydney Sixers scored 198 runs in a 20-over innings.

Riley Meredith picked three wickets while Billy Stanlake and Rishad Hossain ended with two-wicket tallies each.

In the pursuit of chasing 199 run target, Mitchell Owen and Tim Ward opened the innings while Ben Dwarshuis opened the bowling attack.

Both lost their wickets in the 2nd and 3rd overs, respectively, for 13 runs each. Beau Webster and Ben McDermott added some crucial runs as the former added 24 runs while Dermott added 40 runs.

But Hobart Hurricanes’ defences started to crumble with the duo’s dismissal, and the middle order, including Nikhil Chaudhary, Matthew Wade and Chris Jordan, got dismissed cheaply.

Dwarshius picked up his second wicket in this innings, dismissing Prestwidge for 19 runs. Despite Rishad Hossain adding 11 runs to the board, Hobart Hurricanes scored 141 runs, losing all 10 wickets in the 18th over.
