‘Ben Stokes is not only our captain but also a very good friend. Whenever a player needed advice, he would go to Stokes without hesitation. The team will feel a great loss due to his departure. The most difficult thing will be that there will be no Stokes in the dressing room. In all the matches I have played, Stokes and Joe Root have been part of the team. Now it will not be easy to play without them. However, now we have no other option but to accept it. It will just take some time to adapt to this new situation.

It is noteworthy that Stokes had announced his retirement from international cricket on the fourth day of the Test match.
