Jose Mourinho arrives late to press conference: ‘Kebab was excellent’

Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho had an unusual start to his post-match press conference after his team’s commanding 4-0 victory over Adana Demirspor in the 20th round of the Trendyol Super Lig. The Portuguese manager arrived late and humorously explained the reason:

“I am sorry for being late. The food was very good. Kebab was excellent,” Mourinho said, setting a lighthearted tone before discussing the match.

Mourinho: ‘We deserved the three points’

Reflecting on the game, Mourinho praised his squad for their dominance, stating that Fenerbahce was superior despite Adana Demirspor's effort.

“In the first half, we missed two clear chances. One shot hit the post, and Irfan also missed a great opportunity. Our rhythm dropped a bit after that, and the first half continued in that manner,” he explained.

Mourinho highlighted his team’s strong second-half performance, emphasizing how Fenerbahce took control:

“We started the second half well. While it was still 11 vs. 11, we scored a fantastic goal. Then, there were disallowed goals. I made a substitution, bringing on a young player who had previously been booed by the Kadikoy crowd. Today, with his assist and overall contribution, he helped us secure this victory as a team. We deserved the three points.”

‘We lost points we shouldn’t have’

Addressing the title race, Mourinho pointed out that Fenerbahce had suffered unnecessary point losses but remained confident in their standing compared to rivals Galatasaray.

“We lost points we shouldn’t have. They (Galatasaray) won matches they shouldn’t have. So, in terms of performance, I see us ahead of them,” Mourinho asserted.

Unexpected drama as security staff collapses

The post-match events took an unexpected turn when, as Mourinho left the press conference, a security officer suddenly collapsed in the corridor.

Reacting swiftly, the Portuguese coach called for medical assistance, prompting Fenerbahce’s medical staff to rush from the dressing room to provide aid.

The incident added an unusual twist to an already eventful evening for Mourinho, whose late arrival, dominant victory, and quick response to the emergency ensured he remained at the center of attention.
