Joseph Gordon-Levitt to visit India as IFP’s opening speaker

IFP, a leading global festival for creativity and culture, formerly called the India Film Project, is set to return with its 14th edition on October 12 and 13 in Mumbai. The festival has announced a special opening speaker: acclaimed American actor, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This will be Gordon-Levitt’s first visit to India.

Known for his roles in films such as 500 Days of Summer, Inceptionand LooperGordon-Levitt will join the who's who of Indian cinema, including Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Kabir Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Tapsee Pannu, Shoojit Sircar, Saurabh Shukla, Guneet Monga, Ram Madhvani, Sharvari, Kunal Kemmu, and more.

Expressing his excitement about attending IFP, Gordon-Levitt said, “It feels surreal to be visiting India for the first time. I’ve long been a fan of Indian music and culture and have been engaging with Indian creators through our community, HIT RECORD. Being invited to speak at the 14th Season of IFP is truly an honor. The rise of independent cinema, storytelling, and art in India fascinates me. There’s something captivating about how its rich history blends with the world of film and music. I’m excited to experience this vibrant creativity firsthand at IFP.”

Gordon-Levitt stars in the mystery thriller Killer Heatalongside Shailene Woodley, which is now out on Prime Video.

The festival will feature its signature series of 50-hour challenges in creative fields such as filmmaking, music, design, performing arts, writing, and photography, with more than 54,000 participants from around the world.
