JPC President Jagdambika Pal meets Muslim delegation, discusses Waqf Amendment Bill

New Delhi: The winter session of Parliament is going to start soon. This winter is going to be special in many ways. BJP, which was weak in the Lok Sabha elections, is now in full swing with victory in both the states.

Many important bills will be introduced in this Parliament session. Of which there is also Waqf Amendment Bill. This bill was sent to JPC. There was vigorous debate in the JPC meeting, but no results could be achieved.

Meanwhile, Jagdambika Pal, Chairperson of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, met Muslim delegations on Saturday before the winter session of Parliament. JPC President Jagdambika Pal told the news agency that the delegation has issued a memorandum regarding the proposed amendment bill of the Waqf Board. Jagdambika Pal said that various delegations from Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, some professors from Delhi University, Islamic scholars, former Vice Chancellor of Lucknow and others from the minority community had come and issued a memorandum regarding the proposed amendment bill of the Waqf Board. Did.

Jagdambika Pal said that the delegation expressed its support for the bill and gave the example of triple talaq. Jagdambika Pal further said that she said that she supports this bill because just as she got freedom from triple talaq, similarly if this bill is passed then it will benefit women and children.

The JPC committee is expected to present its report on the bill in the House by the end of the first week of the winter session of Parliament, which will run from November 25 to December 20. The efforts of the JPC are part of a larger national initiative to reform the Waqf Act and ensure that Waqf properties are used in the larger interest of the community.
