Big record made in EV charging infrastructure
This announcement of the company has come with another big milestone in the Indian market. MG Motor has completed the installation of 1,000 community EV chargers across the country under its exclusive ‘MG Charge’ programme. With this, JSW MG Motor has become the first passenger car manufacturer in India to prepare a community charging network at this level.
These 1,000 chargers are currently fully activated in more than 470 cities and towns across different states of India. The company has strategically placed these chargers at locations where public access is highest, such as major residential societies, hotels, hospitals, industrial parks and large educational institutions.
Official statements and company strategy
“The future of electric and new energy vehicles in India is very strong. Our aim is not only to bring vehicles with new technology but also to completely eliminate the worry of charging for the customers. Installing 1,000 community chargers is a big step in this direction.”
What will be the impact on common consumers and the way forward?
In the coming time, this initiative of MG will directly benefit those car buyers who are hesitant in switching to fully electric (BEV). The company’s first plug-in hybrid model will be a great option for those who want to take advantage of both electricity in the city and petrol and diesel for long journeys. Additionally, the availability of 1,000 chargers in societies and commercial hubs will now give EV owners major relief from ‘range anxiety’ (fear of running out of battery).
