JSW Motors’ Two Upcoming EVs Spied – Jaecoo J5 EV And Chery iCar V23 Electric SUVs
Soon, we will be seeing the debut of a new automaker in India, and it will be none other than Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group’s automotive arm, JSW Motors. It will be launching not one, but three products in India, and recently two of them were spotted wearing heavy camouflage on the road. For those wondering, these test mules were of the Jaecoo J5 EV mid-size SUV and the Chery iCar V23 electric SUV.
The images of the Jaecoo J5 EV and Chery iCar V23 have been shared on Reddit. In these images, we can note that, in total, there are four SUVs which are fully camouflaged. However, we can note that the two in the front are the Jaecoo J5 EV SUVs. Meanwhile, the two behind are the Chery iCar V23 SUVs. It can also be observed that the officials from the company were loading up their luggage in these SUVs for long-term test drives.
Jaecoo J5 EV
As stated, the two Range Rover Velar-like SUVs in the spy images are the Jaecoo J5 EV SUVs. This particular SUV will be a direct competitor of the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV. At the front, it will boast a very simple, elegant, and futuristic fascia. It can be seen that it will get a set of sleek projector-based LED headlights with dual LED DRLs on top and bottom.
Also, even though we cannot see it, it will be getting a closed-off grille. On the sides, the Jaecoo J5 will be seen with a very clean and imposing silhouette with a strong shoulder line. As mentioned, its design will be very similar to that of Range Rover SUVs. The main highlights are the aero-efficient dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels. As for the rear, it will boast a sloping roofline similar to that of the Range Rover Evoque and Velar, an integrated spoiler, thin LED taillights, and a simple rear bumper with a skid plate.

The Jaecoo J5 EV will also come loaded with features. Its list will include a 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster. Other premium features will include ventilated and powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone automatic climate control, and many others.

Currently, in the international markets, the Jaecoo J5 EV is offered with a front-mounted electric motor which is capable of producing 211 PS of power and 288 Nm of torque. This SUV can perform a sprint of 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.7 seconds. Also, it can reach a top speed of 175 kmph. Most likely, the JSW Motors Jaecoo J5 EV will be making its debut in 2027 in the price range of Rs 18 to 25 lakh.
Chery iCar V23

The second vehicle seen in the spy images is the Chery iCar V23. Once again, it will be an electric SUV. However, its design philosophy is completely different from that of the Jaecoo J5 EV. The iCar V23 will be a much more rugged and macho-looking SUV, which will also boast neo-retro off-roader styling. Its overall design has taken its inspiration from the Land Rover Defender luxury SUV.
At the front, the Chery iCar V23 will feature a set of circular LED headlights with LED DRLs, an upright bonnet, and a bold front bumper. Meanwhile, on the side, it will feature large windows with tall window lines, a proper boxy SUV silhouette, and side steps. Moving to the rear, these test mules have been spotted with an offset-positioned square storage box.
Other test mules which were spotted before had a larger box which carried the spare wheel. This one, however, does not look big enough to carry a spare wheel.

Although not seen in the images, the interior of the Chery iCar V23 will come loaded with tech. Its cabin will feature a large 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, retro-style buttons for automatic climate control, and powered and ventilated front seats. We can also expect a panoramic sunroof and other modern creature comfort features.
Presently, in the international markets, the Chery iCar V23 is offered with two battery pack options. The first is the smaller 59.93 kWh battery, which comes with a rear-wheel-drive setup and offers around 401 km of range. Meanwhile, the larger 81.76 kWh battery comes paired with an all-wheel-drive system and offers up to 510 km of range.

In terms of performance, the RWD version produces 136 bhp and 180 Nm. On the other hand, the AWD version generates 211 bhp and 292 Nm. The AWD variant can also accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in around 7.5 seconds. As for the RWD version, it takes about 11 seconds. Both versions have a top speed of 140 kmph. It is believed that the Chery iCar V23 will be priced in the range of Rs 20 to Rs 25 lakh. Once launched, it will not have any direct rivals, but it will take on the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and others.
