Julia Stiles Sets Directorial Debut with Rom-Com Movie
The official Wish You Were Here trailer for Lionsgate Movies’ upcoming romantic dramedy has been released, which hails from actress-turned-director Julia Stiles. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 17, 2025.
“This fascinating movie is about leaving the everyday world behind to take a chance on true romance,” reads the official synopsis. “When the perfect night with a perfect stranger ends suddenly the next morning, Charlotte searches for answers and meaning in her disappointing life until she uncovers a secret that changes everything.”

Who is in the Wish You Were Here trailer?
The trailer introduces the characters of Aladdin’s Mena Massoud and Orphan’s Isabelle Fuhrman, who unexpectedly find true love with each other. However, their budding romance will unfortunately be tested by a life-threatening sickness. The cast also includes Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man in San Francisco), Gabby Kono-Abdy (Baker’s Dozen), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier).
Wish You Were Here is directed by Stiles from a screenplay she co-wrote with Renée Carlino, based on the latter’s best-selling novel of the same name. This marks the feature directorial debut of Stiles, who is no stranger to the genre due to her iconic roles in classic rom-com movies like 10 Things I Hate About You and Save the Last Dance. The film is executive produced by Fuhrman, Marianne Bourg, David Gendron, Ali Jazayeri, Gary Leff, Victoria Martonne, Christopher Renteria, and Vicktoria Túrmina.
