June 2026 ‘Ya’ sedans hit bumper sales; Desire, Amaze and Aura beat Baji!

The latest sedan car sales figures for June 2026 have come out in the Indian automobile market, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire has maintained its top position. The Dzire alone has a share of more than 50 percent in the entire sedan segment. A total of 31,183 sedans were sold in the country in June 2026, up 10.1 percent from the previous year.

Maruti Dzire registered bumper sales of 17,899 units in June 2026, registering a year-on-year growth of 15.6%. Currently, Dzire has a whopping 57.4% market share in this segment. Hyundai Aura was in second place, registering a growth of 10.4% with 5,977 units. While the Honda Amaze stood third with sales of 2,937 units. Amaze posted the biggest and most spectacular jump of 29.2% year-on-year.

When it comes to the midsize sedan segment, the Volkswagen Virtus is the number one, but its sales fell by a whopping 32.8% to just 1,195 units sold in June. In contrast, its main rival Skoda Slavia recorded a positive growth of 20.9%, selling 1,083 units and occupying the fifth position on the list. The Honda City, which recently got its second mid-cycle update, remained sixth with 745 units, a marginal growth of 5.1%.

The Tata Tigor slipped to the seventh spot, with sales down 23.6 percent to 602 units. The Hyundai Verna has also seen a backlash from customers this year, with sales falling by 31.9 percent to 554 units. In the luxury segment, the expensive Toyota Camry is at ninth position with 191 units, maintaining a slow but steady growth of 6.1%.

In short, these figures prove once again that Indian consumers still have a lot of faith in sub-compact sedans, especially the Maruti Dzire.
