Linking Aadhaar and PAN card in the country has now become very easy. The government has launched an SMS based facility to simplify this process. Through this, citizens can link their Aadhaar with PAN by just sending an SMS. However, the last date for this work has been fixed as December 31, and after that the facility may be disrupted in most cases.
According to sources, the linking process is extremely simple. All you have to do is send an SMS in a special format with your PAN number and Aadhaar number. For example, “UIDPAN” can be sent to a number like 567678 or 56161. You will get the message of linking within a short time of sending the SMS.
Experts say Aadhaar-PAN linking is mandatory as it is part of the government’s efforts to integrate data and make the tax system transparent. Without linking, it may become difficult for any taxable person to file tax returns. Apart from this, Aadhaar-PAN link is also required in banking and financial transactions.
The government has already warned that those who have not linked Aadhaar and PAN after December 31, their PAN cards may become temporarily inactivated. This will impact income tax return filing and other financial transactions. Therefore, experts are advising that this linking process be completed as soon as possible.
The central government has also clarified that the process is completely secure and encrypted. No data will be leaked through SMS and information of citizens will be recorded only in the official database. Along with this, if anyone faces problem in linking, help can be taken by visiting Aadhaar Seva Kendra or PAN Seva Portal.
Citizens are being reminded that postponing this process may prove difficult. Additionally, if a person wants to open a bank account, take a loan or invest, it is mandatory to link Aadhaar and PAN. Therefore, it has become necessary for every citizen to complete it before 31st December.
