Ranveer Singh is playing a Sikh character in the film. The main cause of controversy is a poster of a song ‘Pralaya’ and some scenes from the film, where Ranveer Singh is seen wearing a turban and holding a cigarette in his hand. The Sikh community says that this is a violation of their religious principles and beliefs. Sikh activist Vicky Thomas Singh has sent a legal notice to the Censor Board (CBFC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting against the film’s director Aditya Dhar, producers and Ranveer Singh, protesting against this matter. The notice demands that all the controversial cigarette smoking scenes be immediately removed from the film and the makers apologize for this insult.

Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) President Paramjit Singh also opposed this scene (Ranveer Singh Dhurandhar 2) Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) President Paramjit Singh Sarna has also called this scene extremely objectionable. While sharing the poster on social media, he wrote that seeing a cigarette with a turban is against Sikh dignity. He has appealed to the authorities to take immediate cognizance and direct the makers to remove the controversial poster.
