“Just wanted to know…”Sanjay Manjrekar makes a cryptic remark on Virat Kohli’s DRS blunder

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar showed support for Virat Kohli after a mistake with the Decision Review System (DRS) during the second day of the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai on Friday. Kohli was initially given out for being hit on the leg by the umpire, and the Indian star decided not to use the DRS. But later, it was clear that the ball had actually hit his bat first, and a DRS review would have changed the umpire’s decision. Manjrekar shared his thoughts on social media, suggesting that Kohli probably wanted to save the reviews for his team.

“Felt bad for Virat today. He obviously didn’t think he had hit it. Just wanted to know from Gill if ball was hitting stumps. Despite Gill encouraging him to go for the review anyway he walked away dejected wanting to keep the 3 reviews for his team,” Manjrekar posted on X (formerly called Twitter).

On the second day of the first Test on Friday, India finished their second innings at 81 for three, increasing their overall lead to 308 runs against Bangladesh.

Shubman Gill (33 not out) and Rishabh Pant (12 not out) were still batting when the day ended.

Bangladesh was all out for only 149 in their first innings, giving India a big first-innings lead of 227 runs.

In response to India’s first-innings total of 376, Bangladesh managed to last just 47.1 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah, India’s key bowler, took 4 wickets for 50 runs, making him the most successful bowler for the team.

Earlier, India started the day at 339/6 and lost all four of their remaining wickets, adding only 37 more runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s impressive batting ended at 113 runs, adding 11 runs to his overnight score, while Ravindra Jadeja was out for 86.

For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud took 5 wickets for 83 runs, and Taskin Ahmed contributed with 3 wickets.
