Beijing, June 19. India’s Ambassador to China Vikram Doraiswami on Friday released a video message for devotees undertaking the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra (KMY). In this message he welcomed the passengers and gave some important advice related to travel.
“Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Government of China, will depart from India on Saturday, June 20,” the Indian Embassy in Beijing said in a post on social media platform The Embassy team warmly welcomes all pilgrims traveling through both official and private means to visit the sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar.
The Embassy team led by Ambassador Doraiswamy recently visited the travel routes. The team inspected the major roads leading from Sikkim and Uttarakhand in India to Tibet Autonomous Region (China). During this, travel arrangements and preparations were reviewed through Nathu La and Lipulekh passes.

Sharing the video, the embassy said, ‘This is a message from our ambassador. More travel related photos and important travel advisories will also be released soon. Best wishes to all the devotees for a safe, successful and spiritually enriching journey. The Ambassador said in the message that after reaching Nathu La Pass, Chinese Customs and Immigration officials will welcome the devotees. After this they will be taken to Yadong County via buses.
The embassy also gave other important information in the video like travel time, food facilities and currency exchange. The Ambassador also said that many videos giving more information related to the route of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will be released in future also. Last week he visited Lhasa, the historical, cultural and spiritual capital of Tibet. There he, along with local administration officials, reviewed the preparations and facilities made for the Indian pilgrims.
He was received at Lhasa Airport by Yang Lahong, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Tibet Autonomous Region. According to the embassy, the ambassador later met Zhao Peng, vice president of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Zhao Peng gave detailed information about the arrangements and preparations made for the devotees. Earlier on June 13, Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita had flagged off the first batch of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in New Delhi.
