Kaithi producers files suit against Bholaa makers alleging violation of remake rights

But Dream Warrior claims that only a Rs 1 crore (+GST) amount was paid, in 2022, with two further payments, which were due on April 29, 2023, and May 29, 2023, were not paid. Before the due dates of the second and third payments a tripartite Assignment Agreement (Agreement 2), between Dream Warrior Pictures, Reliance, and Ajay Devgn Ffilms LLP was established, which resulted in all three parties being vested with remake rights, with the exploitation rights being reserved by Reliance.

After filing a plea before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), initially, Dream Warrior Pictures were informed by the NCLT that the matter must be submitted to a civil court, and dismissed the plea in August 2025.

Subsequently an IP suit was filed on March 22, to restrain Ajay Devgn Films and Reliance from gaining monetary compensation from Bholaa (2023). Prime Video, Zee Cinema and T-Series are also the parties against whom the suit were filed. The suit seeks to have the prior assignment agreements to be terminated, and the rights to be reverted back to Dream Warrior completely. Dream Warriors are also seeking damages, which includes profits and revenues from the film and its derivative content.
