Who was Dipu Chandra Das?
Dipu Chandra Das was a 20-year-old Hindu youth working in a garment factory in Bangladesh. He was allegedly accused of blasphemy, after which he was publicly beaten to death by the mob. There was huge outrage in India after the video of this incident surfaced.

After the murder of Dipu Das, several Hindu organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal staged a massive protest outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.
The incident took place against the backdrop of violence in Bangladesh following the killing of student leader Sharif Usman Hadi, who died days after being shot in Dhaka on December 18.
After this, diplomatic tension was also seen between India and Bangladesh. Both countries summoned each other’s ambassadors, while Dhaka suspended visa services for three Indian cities, citing protests outside its embassies in India.
Bangladesh government’s response
Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus also condemned the murder of Dipu Das and said that there is no room for violence. However, the Hindu community in India is still angry over this incident and is expressing concern over the threats being received by members of their community in neighboring countries.
