Gunalan Kamalini and Vaishnavi Sharma have earned maiden call-ups to the India squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home.
They come in the place of Radha Yadav and Uma Chetry, who were part of the squad that triumphed in the ODI World Cup last month.
Meanwhile the squad comprises familiar names like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana. The left handed opener has resumed national duties after being named in India Women’s 15-member squad for the home T20I series in Sri Lanka Women tour of India 2025.
She recently called-off her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal. Just a day after announcing the seperation, Smriti Mandhana returned to training. Her brother, Shravan Mandhana, shared a picture of her batting in the nets, fully focused on the game despite the personal attack.
Meanwhile, bit hitting opener Shafali Verma who replaced Pratika Rawal in the World Cup squad for the knockouts stages due to injury, has been included the squad.
India and Sri Lanka will play their five-match series just before the start of the WPL 2026 on January 09 in Navi Mumbai.

The scheduled of this bilateral series was announced soon after the white-ball series between India and Bangladesh that was to happen in India in December got postponed last month.
The young spinner Vaishnavi was the leading wickettaker at the year’s ICC U19 Women’s Cricket World Cup, claiming 17 wickets with India securing their second consecutive title.
However, she went unsold during the WPL 2026 auction. Meanwhile, Kamalini was signed by the Mumbai Indians for INR 1.6 crore for WPL 2025 and retained by the two-times champions. She also become the youngest player to debut in the WPL last season.
G. Kamalini was the third highest run-scorer with 143 runs, including an unbeaten 56. She will be the backup wicketkeeper to Richa Ghosh.
The first two matches of the series will be played at Visakhapatnam while the last three games will be played on Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
