Emergency directed by Kangana Ranaut was released on theaters today. On its first day of release, the political drama based on the real-life instances of Indira Gandhi, the former prime minister of India, failed to make a strong start.

On its first day, financed by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, it made a pittance of Rs 2.25 crore net.

Despite receiving praise for her outstanding portrayal of Indira Gandhi, Ranaut was unable to make an impression as director. Critics and viewers are reacting to the film in a variety of ways, which could limit its box office potential.

Seeing how the film holds up over the next few days will be interesting. Since Veer Pahariya and Akshay Kumar are preparing for the debut of Sky Force, the political drama will need to have a new release date of January 24. Additionally, by the end of January, Shahid Kapoor’s Deva will enter the box office race.
