Kanika Dhillon's 'Do Patti' gets mixed response from critics and audience

Mumbai Mumbai :Kanika Dhillon's recent thriller 'Do Patti' received mixed responses from critics and audiences. Directed by Kajol, Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Sheikh, the film is based on the dual factor. Taking advantage of the swapping of identities, it tried to tie together several issues and present a captivating thriller. Recently, during a conversation with News18, he reacted strongly to the negative reviews of his film. The filmmaker said that everyone is a critic these days. Additionally, Dhillon said she could differentiate between genuine negative criticism and biased personal attacks. During her interview, Kanika was asked about the lack of trigger warning regarding domestic violence in the film and the response to it.

To this, the 'Haseen Dillruba' producer replied, “We did that deliberately. In a message-driven film, when you start with a direct message, the audience somehow perceives it as something which is not entertaining. And I Don't want to make special films for any particular circuit.” Defending her reasoning behind doing so, Kanika reiterated that the audience was able to watch the film with an open mind. She explained, “I will do anything to reach my film to them (audiences) so that they watch it. And then look at the message in it. The way it's been written and the choices we've made for the film, what I'm hearing is that the audience will love it. did the last 50 minutes of the film Really appreciated. They got very emotional.”

As the conversation progressed, the filmmaker gave his take on the negative reviews, acknowledging that a creative work is open to interpretations.' However, she reiterated that she does not want to tolerate personal attacks. Dhillon commented, “Who are these people? We are not making films for them. Today anyone and everyone can be a reviewer. Everyone has access to social media and everyone has their own opinion. Today when I look at the quality of reviews, I think they are trolls. I only look towards a handful of reviewers who can write an unbiased negative review and give fair points.”

He further added, “I am actually able to differentiate between negative criticism and jahan pe koi khunnas khake baitha hai. When they start criticizing through personal attacks on the person instead of the film, they become trolls. I don't react to half of them. You can tell by the title whether it's a trolling piece or not. In that case, I don't open those reviews. “This is how I keep my sanity.” 'Do Patti' released on Netflix on October 25. Kanika Dhillon co-wrote and co-wrote the title with Shashank Chaturvedi.
