Kanishkadev Media Cricket: Santosh’s fifty in the first win of Paradkar XI, Ishwardev Mishra XI defeated by 49 runs

In the 38th Kanishkadev Gorawala Memorial Media Cricket Competition under the banner of Anand Chandola Sports Festival organized under the banner of Varanasi Press Club run by Kashi Journalist Association, for the first time within four days, the rival teams played the full quota of 20-20 overs and a total of 315 runs were scored on the board.

At present, in a thrilling contest between bat and ball, former champion Paradkar XI lost the upper hand and kept alive its hopes of entering the final from Group ‘A’ by defeating Ishwardev Mishra XI by 49 runs and getting its first win in two matches. In the first match, Paradkar XI had to lose to Vidya Bhaskar XI. Now on 29th December, the finalists will be decided by the match between Vidya Bhaskar XI and Ishwardev Mishra XI.

 

Paradkar XI reached 182 with Santosh-Surendra’s partnership of 83 runs.

Opting to bat first at Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Complex, Sigra, Paradkar XI scored a huge score of 182 runs for six wickets in 20 overs with the explosive half-century of ‘Player of the Match’ Santosh Yadav (55 runs, 24 balls, two sixes, eight fours) and his 83-run partnership on the third wicket with Surendra Tiwari (22 runs, 42 balls, one four). Although it also included 40 extra runs. Currently, this was the highest score by any team in the current edition.

97 run partnership between Abhishek and Bijender meaningless

After falling two wickets within 23 runs in the fourth over in front of a difficult target, Abhishek Singh (60 runs, 48 ​​balls, two sixes, five fours) took the responsibility and along with scoring a half-century himself, tried his best to fight the match with a partnership of 97 runs with Bijendra Mishra (42 runs, 39 balls, five fours). But when Prashant Mohan (3-18) broke this partnership by returning Bijender, then the line was reached and Ishwardev Mishra XI could reach only 133 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Apart from Prashant, Deenbandhu Rai and Dhawal Chaurasia shared four wickets among themselves.

Earlier, in the innings of Paradkar XI, apart from Santosh and Surendra, Sagar Yadav (24 runs, 11 balls, one six, three fours), Prashant Mohan (18 runs, 24 balls, three fours), who had made the highest individual score of the current edition with 91 runs in the last match, and Abhishek Kashyap (16 runs, eight balls, four fours) also made useful contributions. For Ishwardev XI, Pankaj Mishra took three wickets for 18 runs while Bijendra, Abhishek and captain Sushant Mukherjee got one wicket each.

The chief guest of the fourth day of the competition was Dr. A.K., Chairman of Vikas Educational Group. Singh got introduced to the players of both the teams. Hemant Rai and Krishna Tiwari umpired the match while Nand Kishore Yadav was the scorer.

According to competition coordinator Krishna Bahadur Rawat, after Sunday’s rest day, the match will be played between Vidya Bhaskar XI and Ishwardev Mishra from 10.30 am on Monday, 29th December.
