New Delhi: There is no denying the fact that Akshay Kumar is one of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema. Over the years, the 57-year-old star has crafted a special place in the hearts of fans by portraying diverse roles. And now, the Khiladi of B-Town is all set to make his Telugu debut. Yes, you guessed it right! Here, we are talking about Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming film Kannappa.
On Monday (January 20, 2025), Akshay took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to unveil his first look poster from the mythological movie. In the visual, he can be seen as Lord Shiva, standing firmly on one leg, holding a damru and trident. Have a look:

Akshay’s portrayal of Mahadev is receiving immense love from social media users. “What a divine look. Pure goosebumps. Har Har Mahadev. Akshay Sir is not acting. He is transforming into Lord Shiva’s avatar. He is so devoted to Shiva. Hats off,” commented a netizen. Another wrote, “Wow! No one better to portray Lord Shiva.”
Kannappa is scheduled to be released in theaters worldwide on April 25, 2025. If online reports are to be believed, the film also features Mohanlal, Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal in cameo appearances.

It is believed that Akshay portrayed the character of Lord Shiva in OMG 2 as well. The comedy drama turned out to be a success at the Box Office and garnered multiple nominations at award functions. The Amit Rai directorial, also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, received mostly positive reviews from viewers and critics in 2023.
