Kapurthala farmer Dies in Accidental Firing Incident in Sultanpur Lodhi Village
PHAGWARA: Pall of gloom descended in village Chakkapatti near kabirpur(Kapurthala) on late Wednesday evening as in a tragic incident a farmer identified as Balkar Singh(60) lost his life after a licensed 12-bore rifle accidentally discharged at his residence.
According to reports received here late last night, Balkar Singh was present inside his house with his wife at the time of the incident. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard from inside the house, following which his wife immediately alerted other family members and villagers. Upon reaching the spot, Balkar Singh was found lying dead in his bedroom, in a pool of blood at the scene.
Family members informed the police that the deceased’s daughter is married, while both of his sons are currently living abroad. They categorically stated that they do not suspect any foul play and believe that the death occurred due to the accidental firing of the licensed rifle kept at home.
On receiving information, officials from Kabirpur police station promptly reached the spot, took custody of the body, and sent it for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police officials stated that an investigation is underway from all possible angles and that further action will be taken based on the postmortem report and findings of the inquiry.
